IT'S FREE you cheap bastards and can run in a decent rig.
So far i played it with lifter and bill23. It's fun when you are playing on hard/pro with 3 others.

someone said what i was thinking in a more eloquent manner so here it goes:

That said though, everything is heavily HEAVILY scripted. Once you've played through Alien Swarm once you've seen it all, and that will take you about 45 minutes tops with a competent group. There's almost no replay value as the classes play identical except one person can hack, one person can drop health, and the other two classes shoot. In fact the commander class is only useful in Single-player, as his stat "Leadership" applies to how well the bots will follow your commands. The Heavy weapons class does everything a commander does, but better, so running with 2 heavies tends to negate the use of any commander units.
It's free, it's fun, and it's by Valve, plus you get a TF2 hat once you beat 2 levels in multiplayer. Everything to love. IF they had charged money for this game though, anything more than $5 would have left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Now if you'll excuse me I've got some randomized scripted events scripting to work on so the player-made maps for this mod aren't as linear as the Default campaign. [Which] is why they gave us the code. |
Overall, worth a try!

Very entertaining, I like the concept and the gameplay style too. Now just need a competent team, pubbing it sucks.
